In the USTA Aus Open WC Playoff King beat Cecil, McHale beat Vandeweghe, Brodsky beat Brengle and Albanese beat Muhammed.

Congrats to Lindsay Davenport who is pregnant again. Didn’t she recently confirm that she’s playing Melbourne?

Daniela Hantuchova churns through yet another coach and Albert Portas is now in the hot spot. Wonder how long he lasts. Dani will start the 2009 season in Brisbane instead of the usual Auckland and is still insisting on playing doubles with Sugiyama. Here’s Hantuchova on the catwalk in Madrid, still undecided whether she wants to be a top player or a fashion icon.

More board wars to ensue with the capricious announcement that Jelena Jankovic is the ITF women’s player of the year (no one will argue with Nadal as the men’s). Their reasoning is that the ITF gets to include Fed Cup and such (which Jankovic did perform well in). This is surely nonsense as the main ITF tournaments are called Majors and Jankovic won absolutely none of them.
