Novak Djokovic has knocked back a last ditch effort to lure him to the big money in Doha. He’s going to play little old Brisbane instead (prolly for big medium money).
The hype has started! Jelena Dokic gets a well-deserved Wild Card into Brisbane and the expectations begin. How many rounds can she win? Will she get a start in Sydney or Hobart? Maybe top 100 by Melbourne? Nonsense, remember she hasn’t won a main draw match since Hobart a year ago and if she draws a top player in the luck of the draw in Brisbane then she’ll likely be cannon fodder unless said top player had too much Christmas pudding (ie doesn’t take the first tournament of the year seriously). Let’s ease back and let her get a few matches under her belt before we announce her second coming – she has done this several times before. That said, she has improved in every match (6 in total) she played last week.
