Anastasia Rodionova lost to Sophie Ferguson

Anastasia Rodionova
Murray thrashed Blake and Davydenko beat Roddick in Abu Dhabi. In Brisbane Sprem won, Bremond lost, Groenefeld beat Kutuzova, Goerges won, King beat Pin, Karatantcheva won, Shvedova lost, Bychkova won, Fedak won and all Australians lost except for Ferguson who beat (Aussie) Rodionova in a three hour chokathon. Men’s qualifying tomorrow.

In a nice touch the grandstands for the shaded courts in Brisbane were placed on the wrong side so for most of the day crowds gathered on the grass on the shaded side while the unshaded stands were empty. Pat Rafter turned up to take possession of his new court (Pat Rafter Arena), hit with Isabella Holland and play a little hit-and-giggle doubles for the masses on centre court er Pat Rafter Arena.

The delightful Agnieszka Radwanska confirms what we already know: “Sharapova is inaccessible. She's always keeping herself out of the way. She's friends with no one. Chakvetadze is very similar. Kuznetsova, on the other hand, is great! She's funny and always the life and soul of the party. Dementieva is also very likeable. She's like a normal girl from the neighbourhood".
