Alize Cornet wins a match

Alize CornetCornet struggled woefully in a chokathon before finally pulling out a win. Whether she can do it again tomorrow against Mayr is debatable. Every time she pulled ahead she promptly lost her serve and served for the second set (and failed) three times before finally winning in a tiebreak. Is this the start of a turnaround or an example of how players sometimes simply muddle through despite how bad they’re playing?

Zahlavova lost. Rybarikova won, Benesova won, LL Hladikova beat WC Klaffner, AMG lost, Bammer struggled, Vogele won, Pin won, Goerges lost, Errani beat Rus, Hercog lost and the Karatantcheva comeback remains struck in second tier tournaments.

Tursunov beat Berrer, Robredo lost, Mayer beat Schuettler, Wawrinka lost, Simon lost, Melzer lost, Odesnik beat Baghdatis, Soeda lost to Becker, Guccione spoiled his good last week by losing and Gaudio lost.
