Fernando Gonzalez thumped Tsonga

Fernando Gonzalez - US Open Day 9Gonzo belted Tsonga, Nadal picked up the pace to beat Monfils, del Potro dispatched Ferrero and Cilic thrashed expectations and Murray.

Clijsters and Serena bother rolled and setup the heavyweight clash which should decide the title. Is the new (and improved?) Kim tougher than the old Kimmie? Is Serena jealous that everyone is talking about some other American and not her? Will she or her dad slap down the crowd if they dare to cheer for the likeable Belgian and not the ungraceful American?

Next up Wickmayer and K-Bond battle it out for the right to lose to the Woz. Let’s assume the other Belgian edges Bondarenko the Lesser in a tough three setter and examine the case for the other American against Wozniacki. The (great) Dane should start favourite in every department except crowd support against (little) Melanie Oudin but then again so did Dementieva, Sharapova and Petrova. But this is time for Caroline Wozniacki to step up and fulfil all that potential that she’s been carefully avoiding for some time now. Btw she’s still a teenager too. It’s time to perform Caro!

Fed gets to beat Soderling again, Verdasco gets one more shot at redemption against the Djoker but Novak’s the man again in New York.

Meanwhile the ranking system thumps Dinara anyway.
