First round loser Ana

Men:

Murray stayed up past his bedtime to beat Gulbis, Djokovic pushed Ljubicic out the door - he'll play the impresive qualifier Ball. What's up with the once impressive Janko? It seems impending fatherhood doesn't agree with Stan - he just ask Fed for some tips.

Fed’s Quarter

Federer still on track to win quarter

Djokovic’s Quarter
Bye Bye: Ljubicic, Tipsarevic
Roddick still on track to win quarter

Nadal’s Quarter

Murray’s Quarter

Matches to watch: Ferrero vs Santoro, Melzer vs Safin, Del Potro vs Monaco

Women:

Ana Ivanovic used to be number one. Now she's losing in the first round. To the lesser of the Bondarenko sisters. It's not pretty. She actually had two nice dresses designed for her to play in for New York - one for day matches, one for night. It's a pity we'll only get to see one. Can we suggest more time on the practise court and less time on designer dresses. Although at this stage of her slump it probably doesn't matter too much. Didn't we do this last year?

Nice try by Rogowska who lost to Safina in a chokathon. Surely Safina is due to depart next in this form. But a win's a win. Cornet struggled for hours to beat Aussie qualifier Adamczak - could be worse though. Oudin looks good.

Safinas’ Quarter
Bye Bye: Rus, Groth, Urszula Radwanska, Kleybanova, Ivanovic, Rogowska, Rezai
Lisicki still on track to win quarter

Anastasia MyskinaDementieva’s Quarter
Bye Bye: Hercog, Adamczak, Bremond, Goerges, Pin
Wozniacki still on track to win quarter

Venus Williams’ Quarter
Matches to watch: Li Na vs Larcher de Brito, Kirilenko, vs A Radwanska, Vogele vs Schiavone, Bartoli vs Clijsters
Azarenka still on track to win quarter

Serena Williams’ Quarter
Players to watch: Chakvetadze vs Zvonareva, Mirza vs Pennetta
Serena still on track to win quarter

Myskina comeback? Probably not, but let's hope...
