Peer defeats Wickmayer in Dubai

Shahar Peer
Shahar Peer celebrated finally being able to play in Dubai by beating Yanina Wickmayer and not getting attacked or anything. Wickmayer seems to be slumping since Melbourne. Bepa came back from the dead to overcome Vesnina who is presumably now used to this sort of thing. Garbin tossed Stosur, Dulgheru knocked out Schnyder who appears to have lost interest, Pennetta won and Petkovic beat Bondarenko the Elder.

Sharapova showed her class in Memphis and underlined that if she can’t win this title with this depleted field (second seed is Oudin ranked 53) then she should take up fashion full time. A bunch of other people won including Krajicek and Tetreault. Meanwhile in Bogata, Zahlavova, Gallovits, Kerber and Errani won. Good for them. This looks like a CSN / Hercog final. Ouch.

Not much happening in men’s tennis. Nalbandian still playing Starace. Baghdatis and Zverev won. The Worm returns.

Andy Murray should be suspended for missing Marseille twice in a row says the tournament organiser who has since changed his mind when it was pointed out to him that he was a goose. Geese have rights too, he said, although he later admitted that this also may be wrong.
